Intensive Care Unit (ICU) rooms

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at TQEH is located in the Kangkanthi building on Level 1.

  • All ICU hospital bedrooms are fitted with televisions, including free-to-air TV, telephones, and multiple pieces of equipment for patient care.
  • All ICU hospital bedrooms have bathrooms with a shower and toilet.
  • All bedrooms have natural light and are acoustically planned for privacy and rest.
  • Some ICU bedrooms are fitted with ensuites for clinical care.

Our new ICU also has an outside balcony for patients and their families to spend time together in fresh air and sunlight while still receiving monitoring and the high level of care required.

Rehabilitation rooms

The rehabilitation wards recently relocated from Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre to the Kangkanthi building on levels 3 and 4.

  • Rehabilitation bedrooms within Kangkanthi have telephones and free-to-air TV.
  • All bedrooms are single rooms with ensuites.
  • Both levels of the Rehabilitation Unit (Karra and Tarnma) are purpose-built for patient care and rehabilitation, with access to the clinical teams, gyms, and therapy rooms.
  • Meals are delivered and can be eaten together in a shared dining space or on the outdoor terraces within Karra and Tarnma.
  • Karra and Tarnma have patient laundries to wash and dry clothing.

To visit either the ICU or the rehabilitation wards, go to the ground floor of Kangkanthi and either request to be escorted up by a volunteer or follow the signs on the lifts.
